New Hawkesbury Mayor elected
The Hawkesbury has a new Mayor.
Councillor Patrick Conolly was elected to the top position last night, with Clr Mary Lyons-Buckett – a past mayor of the council – voted in as his deputy.
Clr Conolly is the son of former Hawkesbury councillor Kevin Conolly who is now state Liberal MP for Riverstone.
Clr Barry Calvert stood down as mayor after his term came to an end.
“I’d like to thank the Council for their confidence and support in electing me as the Mayor of Hawkesbury,” said the new Mayor.
“We have a range of priorities to deliver, including the Local Environmental Plan, rolling out the Liveability funding, and a number of governance and risk issues to address,” Mayor Conolly said.
“During my term, my ambition is to work with the whole Council as the ratepayers expect us to, to benefit the community. I also aim to strengthen the partnerships that we have developed with the State and Federal Governments,” the Mayor said.
We’ll have an interview up soon with the new mayor, detailing his vision and plans for the Hawkesbury.
