PM Albanese visits flood-hit South Windsor and Richmond, talks to charity and evac centre volunteers

Jul 6, 2022

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited South Windsor this morning to visit the volunteers at Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands before taking the short trip to the Richmond Club which is doubling as the local evacuation centre.

At both venues he thanks volunteers for their help and at South Windsor got to listen to two local residents – Kelly and Scott – who live on two flooded streets in the town.

The PM was joined by Macquarie MP Susan Templeman, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Federal Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt, State Emergency Minister Steph Cooke, and Hawkesbury MP Robyn Preston.

“I was pleased to join the Premier and State Member, and the PM and the relevant minister so they could hear from locals about the flood and get an early insight into some of the issues and challenges we’ll face,” MP Templeman told the Post.

“The Federal and State financial support that’s been made available is a good start, and it’s clear the two levels of government are determined to work closely together, but I can already see the need for a variety of additional assistance. Small business, in particular, will need to be a focus in coming days and weeks.”
