SUN – COVID UPDATE – 1 MORE HAWKESBURY CASE – 415 NEW NSW CASES – STAY AT HOME PLEA

Aug 15, 2021

One more Hawkesbury COVID case listed this morning, taking the total to 5, though the numbers are almost a day behind, this takes us to 8pm last night.

Sources of infection for all those 5 are unknown.

The small rise comes on the heels of Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant this morning urging everyone to stay at home.

Of the virus she said, “there is no silver bullet.”

“Vaccination alone will not get us out of this situation. Let’s redouble our efforts for the next couple of weeks, get those case numbers down and stay at home,” she said.

New NSW case numbers are slightly lower than yesterday but the Premier said while 38 were known to have been infectious in the community in the last 24 hours that number would almost certainly rise.

Of the new cases, 76 were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 24 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Forty-two cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 273 remains under investigation.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, “unfortunately we know going to see more deaths unless more people get vaccinated.”

There were four COVID-linked deaths in the last 24 hours – none in the Hawkesbury.

At the moment the Hawkesbury is still at 4 known COVID cases and for all 4, NSW Health do not know the source of the infection. Those numbers should be updated later today – there may be no change – and we’ll keep you informed.

Neighbouring Hawkesbury local government area Blacktown was mentioned this morning by Dr Chant as an area of high concern as cases continue to rise there – there are currently 597 known cases in Blacktown LGA and 282 have no known source.
