Roads update – Freemans Reach Road and Grose Vale Road
Work has started on Freemans Reach Road, a section of which was severely damaged by flood waters.
Council have now got contractors working on the road and the supporting embankments.
It’s looking like a month before the road can be reopened.
“At this stage it is anticipated that this work will be completed within approximately three to four weeks, dependent on weather and no further issues being encountered, Jeff Organ, Council’s Director infrastructure Services told us just now.
Better news – or at least a quicker reopening – will be the section of Grose Vale Road between Westbury Road and Bowen Mountain Road which has been closed for several weeks.

“It has been closed due to multiple land slips over the road,” says Mr Organ.
“Contractors have been clearing soil and vegetation off the road and we anticipate that the road will reopen by early next week subject to no further land slips,” he said.
We will soon have an update from Transport for NSW on when the pedestrian walkway will reopen on North Richmond Bridge.
