Jan 26, 2021

The 16-year-old boy who was pulled from the water at Sackville yesterday after failing to resurface died earlier today.

Just after 12.20pm on Monday, emergency services were called to the Hawkesbury River near Tizzana Road, Sackville, after reports a 16-year-old boy was unresponsive after being pulled from the river. Members of the public commenced CPR, before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics. As reported yesterday after around 40 minutes paramedics did get a heart beat. The boy was stabilised and airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, however, he died earlier today. Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command are conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
