Premier Gladys Berejiklian said this morning that NSW has got to 6m vaccine jabs which is ahead of schedule, and she added that by Thursday or Friday she will be ale to give some more information on what fully vaccinated people may be able to do from September.

We’re waiting for today’s Hawkesbury COVID numbers – currently sitting at 54 active cases – and we’ll update that once we get them.

“This morning Dr Chant, myself that the other Premiers discussed what we can announce on Thursday or Friday to allow our citizens to have the extra degree of freedom in the next little while which we are looking forward to do,” said the Premier.

She will also outline later this week what the picture is for schools and when pupils may be going back to school.

Meanwhile, there are 608 COVID patients in hospital, with 107 of those in ICU, and 34 on ventilators.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant said 95 people in ICU are not fully vaccinated with just 12 having had the first dose and she stressed the virus is affecting people of all ages.

There are still many over the age of 70 who have not had their first does of the vaccine, she said.
