Yesterday North Richmond Post Office was closed – it should be open again today – after a relative of people who work there was in casual contact – as opposed to close contact – with a known COVID case.
Across NSW, there are now 645 people in hospital, with 113 in ICU. Ninety-eight of those people in ICU are not vaccinated, 14 have received the first dose of vaccine and one has both doses.
“Vaccination is the key,” said Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant this morning. “We need to increase those vaccination levels,” she said.
Of the new cases, 178 are linked to a known case or cluster – 153 are household contacts and 25 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 741 cases is under investigation.
One hundred and six cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 18 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Thirty-seven cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 758 cases remains under investigation.
